Hours of work
8.45am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday

Depending on relevant qualifications and experience (£15k Trainee/ £20k+ Qualified).
Paid overtime with rate enhancements and full flexible TOIL (Time off in lieu).
Company Training package + vehicle.

Job Brief
Due to continued investment we are looking to expand our Cabling Division and are seeking a trainee or experienced engineer to join our team.

Main Duties

  • We are looking for a dynamic, experienced cabling professional capable of working with a team of installation engineers to deliver professional technology solutions. You will be responsible for surveying, designing, installing and testing data and telecoms networks on our clients’ sites, both internally and externally. You will have access to the latest technologies and will be expected to make best use of these to deliver solutions to our client base as their needs suit.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate their eagerness to continually learn, develop new skills and master the latest technologies through supported, structured training. We are a rapidly growing service within our established technology company offering excellent potential for advancement.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A grounded experience of designing, installing, testing and maintaining data and telecoms cabling (CAT5E, CAT6, CAT7, 1308)
  • Able to demonstrate your skills in installing associated containment (plastic & metal trunking/conduit, tray work, basket etc) as well designing cabinet layouts and terminating cables
  • Proficient use of cable certification equipment (Fluke or otherwise) to test and produce a set of results for your installation
  • PC literate
  • Excellent communication skills to work well with our customers
  • Excellent team working skills
  • A professional “can do” work ethic and ability to follow defined company processes
  • An eagerness for self-improvement through company funded structured training and self-study
  • To cultivate professional relationships with our customers through a high level of technical support and installation delivery
  • Lead and provide support to engineers with less skills and experience during implementation projects
  • There will be elements of working away across the UK so a full, clean UK driving licence is needed

Desirable Skills & Experience

It would be considered advantageous if you can bring some or all of the following skills as well:

  • Fibre Optic termination/testing
  • 17th Edition Electrical Qualification
  • Telecoms Installation Experience
  • Knowledge of VOIP
  • Knowledge of networking covering routers, firewalls, switches, wireless and associated networking peripherals
  • Electrical wiring, test and termination
  • Knowledge of /ADSL/FTTP/FTTC


Good secondary school grades, ideally with GCSE and or A Level / NVQ / BTec in IT/Telecom
